Bob Delaney (born November 1, 1951 in Paterson, New Jersey) is a former police officer and current professional basketball referee in the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 1987-88 NBA season. Beginning with the 2006-07 NBA season, Delaney has officiated in 1,182 regular season games, 120 playoff games, and seven NBA Finals games. In addition, Delaney was assigned to the 1998 NBA All-Star Game. He wears the uniform number 26.
New Jersey State Police
Delaney is a 1973 graduate of New Jersey City University with a bachelor's degree in Criminology. After finishing college, Delaney joined the New Jersey State Police. During the mid-1970s, Delaney worked as an undercover officer as part of an operation known as "Project Alpha".
Project Alpha was an investigation into the New Jersey organized crime scene. Delaney and a group of undercover officers posed as businessmen in the trucking industry trying to get out from under the pressures of union interests. This would open an association with the crime families who would alleviate their business pressures from the unions for a price. Delaney would assume the identity of "Bobby Covert", a deceased resident of New Jersey, for his protection. He had to talk like the mobsters, dress like them, drink and eat with them, and sometimes think like them. While doing all this, he had to maintain a profile as a reputable business owner and keep in mind his primary responsibility as a police officer. Mobsters nicknamed him "Bobby Smash".
Project Alpha came to an end in 1977 when Delaney failed to check in with his commanding officers because he went on a business trip for his alamo-trucking company. In 1981, Delaney testified before the United States Senate led by Senator Sam Nunn on organized crime about his experiences with the most powerful organized crime syndicates in New Jersey during his three year undercover operation. Delaney testified that over 100 cases against the mobsters were opened in state and federal courts as a result of Project Alpha, and that the majority of those charged either ended up in prison, on the run, or dead. Soon after testifying in the Senate, Delaney retired as a law enforcement officer and devoted full-time to becoming a basketball referee. In 2008, Delaney wrote about his undercover experience in Covert: My Years Infiltrating the Mob, with co-author Dave Scheiber.
Basketball officiating career
While serving as a police officer, Delaney was also a high school basketball referee in New Jersey from 1972 to 1982 and later officiated in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for four years before being selected by scouts to officiate in the NBA, beginning in 1987.

Burley-on-the-Hill House
The village is well-known for the mansion which overlooks Rutland Water. This great house in the manner associated with Sir Christopher Wren was built in the 1690s[3] by the 2nd Earl of Nottingham, who was to a large extent his own architect and involved himself in the minutiae of construction, but employed Henry Dormer (died 1727) to supervise its building. Nottingham replaced Dormer with John Lumley in 1697.[4] Before embarking on the project, Lord Nottingham consulted Sir Christopher Wren and had measurements taken at Berkeley House and Montagu House in London.[5] The house, in an H-plan, has a pedimented central block and lightly projecting end pavilions. With its symmetrical wings and outbuildings forming a cour d'honneur, and segmental walling linking matching blocks in a larger outer grassed court, it forms one of the most ambitious aristocratic ensembles of the late seventeenth century.
A Dining Room was designed for the 8th Earl of Winchilsea, and installed in 1778.[6]
Burley was converted into apartments in the 1990s by Kit Martin.
The church of the Holy Cross, adjacent to the mansion, is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It contains a moving 18th-century memorial by Sir Francis Chantry to Lady Charlotte Finch.
Cricket venue
George Finch, 9th Earl of Winchilsea lived at the mansion in the late 18th century and used its grounds to stage a number of cricket matches, eight of them first-class, between 1790 and 1793[7]. As late as 1814, the venue was used for a Rutland v Nottingham game.

ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth is the third game in the ToeJam & Earl series, following ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron. It was originally intended to be released for the Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast consoles[1], but its development was later shifted to the Microsoft Xbox. It was released in October 2002.
A three-dimensional platform game, the gameplay is primarily based on that of the original ToeJam & Earl, though elements from Panic on Funkotron were also included. The game presented a more adult approach, and sported full random 3-D levels.

Gameplay
For the more-capable platform, and fitting in with new millennium fashion, ToeJam and Earl were given graphical makeovers; ToeJam was dressed in a tank top and shorts to accompany his gold medallion and baseball cap, while Big Earl's polka-dot Bermuda shorts were replaced by blue denim, and he was given a knit cap. The two characters are joined by Latisha, a blue female insect-like character in blue jeans, a bra top, and gold bangle jewelry. Players may play as any of the three, and may switch between characters in mid-game using the Character Switch Platforms. (Additional playable characters may be downloaded via Xbox Live, as well as additional levels.)
The levels, instead of being arranged in a linear fashion, are grouped into five zones, and accessed by collecting keys scattered throughout the levels. Each zone contains its own set of levels, as well as minigames in which the player must compete against the clock to win bonuses. The gates between zones are opened through special minigames, which must be accessed by collecting karaoke microphones, each of which requires the completion of a mission in one of the levels to acquire. Gradually, however, a more critical purpose is revealed, through cut scenes in which Lamont, in lines reminiscent of Star Wars (such as "I feel a great disturbance in the Funk"), tells the player of the existence of the "Anti-Funk", the game's final boss. Progress throughout the game is saved to the Xbox console's hard disk drive.
Plot
The three are called upon by Lamont the Funkopotamus, to retrieve the twelve Sacred Albums of Funk, which have been stolen and hidden on Earth. As with the original ToeJam & Earl, a variety of Earthlings stand in the way, many of which have carried over from the first two games. To fight against them, the player can use "funk powers" (as in Panic on Funkotron) such as Funk-Fu, a short-range energy blast, and Funk Notes, which can be launched at enemies from a distance, to "funkify" the Earthlings and render them harmless. Presents and food items, many of which carry over from ToeJam & Earl as well, are available to assist or hinder the player. The rhythm-matching from Panic on Funkotron also makes an appearance, in the form of Funk Rhythm, which funkifies nearby Earthlings or gives the player bonus points for matching rhythms by pressing the controller's buttons.

Rice wine is an alcoholic beverage made from rice. Unlike wine, which is made by fermentation of naturally sweet grapes and other fruit, rice "wine" results from the fermentation of rice starch converted to sugars. This process is akin to that used to produce beer; however, beer production employs a mashing process to convert starch to sugars whereas rice wine uses the different amylolytic process. Alcoholic beverages distilled from rice were exclusive to East and Southeast Asian countries, with knowledge of the distillation process reaching India and parts of South Asia later through trade.
Rice brew typically has a higher alcohol content (18-25%) than wine (10-20%), which in turn has a higher alcohol content than beer (3-8%).

Company history
Alfred Peet, known as the "grandfather of specialty coffee", started Peet's Coffee & Tea as a single store in 1966 in Berkeley, California. Peet's original outlet is still located on the corner of Walnut and Vine in Berkeley, close to the University of California (although it has been renovated to match the look of the newer Peet's outlets elsewhere). Peet grew up in the coffee business while living in Holland as a child. Moving to San Francisco, California, when he was 35, he began roasting coffee as he knew it. Peet's now roasts at a small plant in nearby Alameda-the only green coffee plant in the world. Alfred Peet died of cancer on August 29, 2007, at the age of 87 in his home in Ashland, Oregon.
Peet's was the original inspiration for now-rival Starbucks. The three founders of Starbucks knew Alfred Peet personally, founded Starbucks in Seattle, Washington, as kindred spirits, and bought the coffee beans for Starbucks directly from Peet's during their first year of business in 1971. Peet sold his business in 1979 but stayed on as a coffee buyer until 1983. In 1984 Jerry Baldwin, one of the original founders of Starbucks and Alfred Peet's former partner, and co-owner Jim Reynolds, the roastmaster, with a group of investors bought Peet's' four Bay Area locations. In 1987, Baldwin and Peet's owners sold the Starbucks chain to focus on Peet's, and Baldwin and Howard Schultz, Starbucks' new owner, entered into a no-compete agreement in the Bay Area.[1]
Peet's has been much slower to expand than Starbucks, and has maintained more of its focus as a coffee and tea retailer, rather than a coffee bar, a distinction that has long separated Peet's from Starbucks. Peet's is still primarily a California operation, with a few stores in other metropolitan areas (see below) and a short-lived four-store partnership in Tokyo.

Peet's original store in North Berkeley, California.
The company went public in January 2001 (symbol PEET). After a very successful IPO, shares struggled through the first year but have posted solid gains ever since. As of June, 2006, Peet's was listed as a competitor of Starbucks with a market cap of roughly $393M compared to Starbucks's roughly $5B.
In 2007 Peet's opened its new and completely green roasting plant in Alameda, California. This new roasting plant replaced the former operations in Emeryville, California, and is expected to provide enough roasting capacity to allow Peet's to double its current annual sales to about $500M per year.[2]
Peet's as a retail company
Peet's operates 200 retail locations within the US, mostly in California, where Peet's is headquartered. In 2005, UC Berkeley opened its own Peet's franchise as a campus restaurant near its existing dining area. Peet's coffee is also sold at many grocery stores in the United States.
A plan is in the works in early 2008 to open Peet's kiosks in BART stations in the Bay Area.[3]

Biography
Early years
Thompson was born in Philadelphia on January 20, 1971. His father was Lee Andrews of Lee Andrews & the Hearts, one of the great 50s doo-wop groups. His parents did not want to leave him with babysitters, so they took him on tour with them. He grew up in backstages of doo-wop shows. By the age of seven, Thompson began drumming on stage at shows, and by 13, had become a musical director.
Questlove's parents then enrolled him at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. By the time he graduated, he had founded a band called The Square Roots (later dropping the word "square") with his friend Tariq Trotter (Black Thought). Questlove's classmates at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts included Boyz II Men, jazz bassist Christian McBride, and jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco.
Questlove began performing on South Street in Philadelphia using drums, while Tariq rhymed over his beats and rhythms.
Professional music career
The Roots' roster was soon completed, with Questlove on percussion, Tariq Trotter and Malik B on vocals, Josh Abrams (Rubber Band) on bass (who was replaced by Leonard Hubbard in 1994), and Scott Storch on keyboards. While the group was performing a show in Germany, they recorded an album entitled Organix, released by Relativity Records in 1993. He then worked for A Tribe Called Quest.
The group continued recording, releasing two critically acclaimed records in 1995 and 1996, Do You Want More?!!!??! and Illadelph Halflife, respectively. In 1999, The Roots entered mainstream pop consciousness with "You Got Me" (featuring Erykah Badu); a song which would earn the band the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for 2000. Questlove shines in the final minute of this song as he unleashes a massive drum n' bass groove over the last chorus. The song helped fuel the success of their Things Fall Apart album which has since been hailed as a classic, eventually selling platinum. The group went the experimental route and returned in 2002 with the rock-influenced Phrenology, which went gold. Two years later, The Roots released The Tipping Point, which contained a more mainstream sound, allegedly due to demands from Geffen Records. The album sold well (400,000 copies), and Questlove shines in the bonus track remake of George Kranz's "Din Da Da."

He also served as executive producer for D'Angelo's 2000 album Voodoo, Slum Village's album Fantastic, Vol. 2 and Common's albums Like Water for Chocolate and Electric Circus. Besides the aforementioned albums, he has also contributed as a drummer or producer to Erykah Badu's Baduizm and Mama's Gun, Dilated Peoples Expansion Team, Blackalicious's Blazing Arrow, Bilal's 1st Born Second, N*E*R*D's Fly Or Die, Joshua Redman's Momentum, and Zap Mama's Ancestry In Progress, Fiona Apple's Extraordinary Machine, and Zack De La Rocha's currently unreleased solo material.
He played drums on Christina Aguilera's song "Loving Me 4 Me" for her 2002 album Stripped. He also arranged and drummed on Joss Stone's cover of the White...(and so on)
