Broadweave's acquisition of iProvo marked a historic milestone in the FTTP industry as the first privatization of a municipal FTTP network in the US. The acquisition has also led to speculation about the fate of other municipally owned fiber-optic networks.On August 29, 2008, Broadweave completed the acquisition of the iProvo network and assumed ownership and control of the network. The acquisition took 60 days longer than expected. Upon assuming ownership and control of the network, Broadweave announced that it would immediately begin serving business customers via its newly acquired fiber-optic assets.Broadweave also acquired the subscriber base of the largest provider on the iProvo network, Mstar Metro. Contrary to its plans and its public announcements, Broadweave did not acquire the other service providers then operating on the iProvo network, Nuvont Communications and Veracity Communications. Broadweave did sign a contract with Nuvont and Veracity that allows the providers to continue to deliver services on Broadweave's fiber-optic network for up to 2 years.Broadweave also owns and operates multiple FTTP installations in new or greenfield communities in the west, including a contract with the Utah State Trust Lands Administration for up to 21,000 units in Washington County, Utah. Broadweave's first community, Traverse Mountain, is located in Lehi, Utah.Broadweave also delivers data services, commercial telephony, and hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) communications services to small to mid-size businesses and enterprises. In 2007, Broadweave launched its CenterAct Hosted Telephony Service in full production which gives business users one central portal to interact with the world. The Company currently offers this service to small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) over its own fiber networks, with current expansion under way domestically within the US.Customer Service Broadweave customer service can be reached at 801-691-5800. During normal business hours most calls have a long wait time and customers are repeatedly given the option to leave a voice mail. Response time to these messages ranges from 4-8 hours.
